Description

The Sun Joe SPX3000 is one of our top-rated light-duty electric pressure washers because it has great customer reviews and decent power. It comes with a 120V motor that delivers 1800 watts and only weighs 24.4 lbs, making it easy to transport around your yard.

Should anything stop working in your Sun Joe SPX3000, there is a two-year warranty that allows you to get a replacement. If you are looking for a light-duty pressure washer to clean your car, siding, patio, or almost anything else that isn’t too heavily soiled, the Sun Joe SPX3000 is a great choice.

This Sun Joe SPX3000 review will go through everything you need to know including specs, what comes with the unit, common customer complaints, and how it compares to similar models.

Performance

At first glance, the Sun Joe SPX3000 looks like one of the most powerful light-duty electric pressure washers. The listed max PSI (pounds per square inch) and GPM (gallons per minute), however, are only for using the most narrow nozzle which isn’t practical for most projects you would use a pressure washer for.

While the rated PSI and GPM are comparable to similar models, it’s important to keep in mind that in most cases you won’t achieve the max cleaning power listed for the product. Despite this, the Sun Joe SPX3000 still comes in as a great value on our rating scale.

Design

This size and weight of the unit are both average compared to similarly priced models. They are small enough to store in your garage or elsewhere, and light enough to easily transport around the yard—especially with the two wheels connected to the unit.

With a 35-ft power cord length and 20-ft hose length, the Sun Joe SPX3000 can likely reach all parts of your house and yard.

There are two 0.9L tanks onboard should you want to use detergent with your pressure washer. Note that, like most similar models, there is no detergent dilution apparatus, however, so you will have to dilute your detergent before filling the tanks.

Noise

Because it is an electric unit, the Sun Joe SPX3000 is a relatively quiet machine—especially when compared to gas pressure washers. The Total Stop System also shuts off the pump when the trigger is not engaged to keep noise levels even lower

What Comes in the Box

  • Aside from the pressure washer itself, you will also receive the following when purchasing the Sun Joe SPX3000:
  • 34-in extension wand
  • Garden hose adaptor
  • Needle cleaning tool
  • All 5 standard quick-connect spray tips (0°, 15°, 25°, 40°, soap)

Warranty

The Sun Joe SPX3000 comes with a two-year warranty that covers the pressure washer and all included parts besides the battery which is only covered for one year.

If anything goes wrong, you can simply contact Sun Joe and they will help you get a replacement unit or parts.

PROS
  • 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞. Compared to other electric units with similar power, the Sun Joe SPX3000 is generally cheaper.
  • 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬. This unit has some of the best customer reviews we’ve seen online indicating that most purchasers are satisfied with their purchase.
  • 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬. The Sun Joe SPX3000 has a longer warranty than many competitors that only offer a one-year warranty.
  • 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦. The pump automatically shuts off when the trigger isn’t engaged to prolong its life.
  • 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭. The oversized wheels, long power cord, and lightweight of this machine make transporting it and washing hard-to-reach spots easy.
CONS
  • 𝐋𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝. The most common complaint about the SPX3000 is that true power is much lower than advertised. Make sure that the rated pressure and rated flow rate are sufficient for your needs before purchasing.
  • 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐭. If you are looking for a pressure washer for commercial jobs or heavily soiled areas, you may be better off with a gas pressure washer or at least a medium-duty unit.
  • 𝐍𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥. Many pressure washers come with a hose reel to make winding up the hose effortless. The Sun Joe SPX3000 does not. There is a notch where you can wind the hose up for storage when not in use, but you will have to do it manually.
  • 𝐍𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦. Some pressure washers can automatically dilute the detergent with the water connected to the system. The Sun Joe SPX3000 does not. You will have to dilute the detergent yourself if necessary.

Using the Sun Joe SPX3000

Assembly

There is some assembly required out of the box before you can start using your pressure washer but it isn’t too difficult. Check out the video in the Videos section below to follow along or read on to learn about what’s required.

Steps required for assembly:

  1. Slide the trigger gun holder into place on the left slide of the unit (if looking at the front of it).
  2. Attach the handle with the four longer screws that come in the box.
  3. Slide the handle into the grooves on the top of the base of the unit.
  4. When looking at the back of the unit, screw in the four screws with a Phillips head screwdriver.
  5. Attach the spray wand protector by sliding the tab on it into the groove on the front left side of the unit (if looking at the front of the unit) and screwing in one of the smaller screws.
  6. Attach the high-pressure hose holder by sliding it into place just under the detergent tanks on the front side of the machine and screwing in the remaining screw.
  7. Attach the spray wand to the trigger gun by bringing them together and turning the top piece of the trigger gun clockwise.
  8. Connect the hose to the trigger gun by placing the smaller end of the hose on the bottom side of the trigger gun and turning clockwise.
  9. Connect the larger end of the hose to the bottom side of the base of the unit by pushing it into place and turning clockwise.
  10. To attach the garden hose, turn the water inlet on the front center of the unit clockwise to loosen it up, put the garden hose in, then turn the knob counterclockwise.

Washing

Using the Sun Joe SPX3000 is simple. Just attach the garden hose to the unit as explained above, turn the hose on, and turn the pressure washer on.

After that, simply engage the trigger to spray the water. Be sure not to spray close to the power source you are using.

Additionally, there are a few different nozzles that come with the unit. Which you should use depends on what you are cleaning. The list below highlights which each is best suited for.

  • Red (0°) Nozzle: Very high pressure, low flow. Good for stubborn grime and hard-to-reach areas.
  • Yellow (15°) Nozzle: High pressure, medium flow. Good for hard surfaces, heavy mildew, rust, oil stains, paint removal.
  • Green (25°) Nozzle: Medium pressure, medium flow. Good for cleaning siding, brick, wood, driveways, etc.
  • Gray (40°) Nozzle: Lower pressure, high flow. Good for gentle cleaning of cars, boats, patio furniture, etc.
  • Black (Soap) Nozzle: For applying soap and detergent.

To use the detergent tanks, turn the dark green knob on the top and center of the unit so the arrow points in the direction of the tank you want to use. When you are finished, turn the knob so the arrow points back to the center.

Common Attachments to Consider

  • SPX-25H: A 25-foot extension hose to help you reach distant spots that aren’t accessible with the standard hose.
  • SPX-TSN-34S: Turbo head spray nozzle that cleans up to 40% faster than standard nozzles for cleaning brick, concrete, vinyl, and more.
  • SPX-PCA10: A circular, 10-inch attachment for cleaning patios, porches, decks, boats, and other flat surfaces.
  • SPX-RB1: Rotary wash brush kit for deep cleaning of furniture, cars, windows, siding, and more.
