The Greenworks 1700 is a light-duty pressure washer designed for residential use. This model offers 1700 PSI and 1.2 GPM, both of which are comparable to models in the same class. With these specs, you get a decent cleaning unit count of 2040, good enough for household use.

You can use the soap applicator and the two nozzle tips to soap and rinse anything from your cars to stubborn dirt on your pavement.  In addition, the customer reviews for this Greenworks pressure washer are mostly positive and users have found the power and pressure to be sufficient.

However, the Greenworks GPW1702 delivers low power for its price, and this is the reason why it is rated at “average” on our scale. There are some alternatives that deliver similar power for a lower price.

Weighing only 10.3 pounds, the Greenworks 1700 is one of the lightest pressure washers around. Its 7-inch wheels allow for easy movement around your yard. With a 35-ft power cord and a 20-ft hose, this model is likely to reach all parts of your home and yard.

This Greenworks model provides ample onboard storage for attachable accessories and also comes with a hose reel. Although a nice addition, the hose reel can sometimes be a little cumbersome to operate.

The nozzles are built with a quick-connect design which makes it possible to switch the tips conveniently. The quick-connects and easy assembly, make this pressure washer easy to assemble and use.

Another notable feature that adds to the compact and stable design is that this model is designed to function well, both vertically and horizontally.

Light-duty and electric, the Greenworks GPW1702 is a relatively quiet machine, fit for use in residential areas. It is free of excessive noise (and fumes) that come with a gas pressure washer.

Greenworks 1700
  • 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹. This Greenworks model provides ample-onboard storage, but the hose reel is a feature that makes it stand apart from many comparable models.
  • 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗮𝗽 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿. You can soap and rinse your cars and windows by using the attachable soap applicator that comes with this model.
  • 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. At 10.3 pounds, it is one of the lightest designs around and you will not face any issue carrying this around your yard.
  • 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝘆. The Greenworks 1700 is a compact and stable machine that can operate equally well, whether placed horizontally or vertically.
  • 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆. Greenworks focuses on making the assembly process easy for users and that has reflected in the easy assembly process for this model too.
  • 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 “𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲” 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲. With a cleaning unit rating of 2040, the Greenworks 1700 is not as powerful as many of its peers. The price of the pressure washer is relatively higher and this leads to a low power-to-price value for the machine.
  • 𝗢𝗻𝗲-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘆. Another area where the Greenworks 1700 falls behind its competitors is the warranty. At one year, it is lower than what other models can offer.
  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲. Customer complaints on this Greenworks 1700 revolve around the build-quality and life of the product. This combined with the low warranty period is another area of concern for a buyer.

The Greenworks 1700 is one of the easiest pressure washers to assemble. You can simply follow the steps below for a quick assembly.

Steps required for assembly:

  1. First, set up the trigger gun holder. While looking at the machine directly from the front, you will find a tab on the right side of the machine(your left). Insert the holder until it locks into the tab.
  2. Next, you can fix up the gun. Attach the spray wand to it by inserting the male end of the wand into the female opening at the front of the gun. While inserting, turn the wand clockwise until the two parts are locked.
  3. Now, secure the high-pressure hose connections. You can do this in two simple steps.
    1. Connect one end of the high-pressure hose to the outlet at the lower front portion of the pressure washer. Secure it by rotating clockwise until the tabs are locked.
    2. Connect the free end to the lower opening on the trigger gun by pushing it in and rotating clockwise until the tabs are secure.
  4. Connect the garden hose to the inlet at the lower right side of the pressure washer. The garden hose can be tightened by hand.
  5. To connect the spray tip, pull back the quick-connector on the open end of the spray wand you require, push the spray tip into place, and release the collar forward to secure it.

Once the connections of the Greenworks 1700 (GPW1702) have been put in place, check if all the attachments are secure. Once this is confirmed, flip the switch at the front of the machine to “on.” Next, remove the lock on the trigger gun and squeeze the trigger for 30 seconds to ensure that air pressure within the hose is released. Now, you are good to go!

Of the three given options (the soap applicator and the 25° and 40° nozzle tips), choose the one that suits your need the best.

  • White (40°) Nozzle: Lower pressure, high flow. For light cleaning applications like wood decks and furniture.
  • Green (25°) Nozzle: Medium pressure, medium flow. For sweeping debris and foliage and removing dirt from surfaces.

To use the soap applicator, unscrew the lid on top and fill the tank with a detergent suitable for pressure washers. Pre-mixing of detergent may be required if the detergent bottle says so.

Close the lid on top and attach the soap applicator to the spray wand. This can be done by pushing the opening attached to the applicator into the spray wand opening. While pushing, turn the attachment clockwise, until the tabs are locked.

Your detergent is now ready for application.

Verdict on the Greenworks 1700 (GPW1702)

A thoughtful and compact design, the Greenworks 1700 is a pressure washer worth considering. It delivers enough power for most household uses and is easy to assemble. In addition, its onboard storage makes it easy to put away, when not in use. Most customers are happy with the purchase and have reviewed it favorably too. But what you might want to factor in is the “value for money” aspect, as it offers a low power-to-price ratio. You can check out other light-duty electric pressure washers here.
